Today is October 12, 2025, and I’ve been actively using USDT on the TON blockchain for the past several months. I initially got involved because I was looking for faster and cheaper transactions than what Ethereum offered, and the buzz around TON and its integration with Telegram was hard to ignore. I’m calling myself Alex for the purpose of this article, and I’ll share my personal journey and observations.
Why I Switched to USDT on TON
For a long time, I relied heavily on USDT on Ethereum. However, gas fees were consistently a pain point. Even simple swaps could cost a significant amount, especially during peak network activity. I heard about Tether launching natively on The Open Network (TON) and, frankly, I was skeptical at first. I’d been burned by promises of “faster” and “cheaper” blockchains before. But the reports from Token2049 in Dubai, and the subsequent announcements from Binance and Oobit, piqued my interest. I decided to take the plunge. usdt ton exchange
Setting Up and My First Transactions
Getting started was surprisingly easy. I already had a Telegram account, which made things incredibly convenient. I used the TON Space wallet within Telegram – it’s a really intuitive interface. I initially deposited USDT from Binance, and the transaction was confirmed within seconds, and the fees were a fraction of what I was used to paying on Ethereum. I’m talking pennies versus dollars!
My first real test was sending USDT to a friend, Sarah, who was also exploring TON. Again, the speed was remarkable. I sent 100 USDT, and she confirmed receipt almost instantly. On Ethereum, that same transaction could have taken 10-20 minutes, and cost me $5-10 depending on the network congestion.

Exploring the Ecosystem: Oobit and Beyond
I quickly discovered that the integration with Oobit was a game-changer. I did a few small purchases from merchants who accepted USDT via Oobit, and the experience was seamless. It felt like using a regular mobile payment app, but with the benefits of cryptocurrency – security and lower fees. I found it particularly useful for smaller transactions where traditional payment methods often have hidden fees.
I also experimented with swapping USDT for Toncoin (TON) using a decentralized exchange (DEX) built on TON. The liquidity seemed to be growing steadily, and the slippage was minimal, even for larger trades. I did notice that the DEX options weren’t as numerous as on Ethereum, but the ones available were reliable and user-friendly.
LayerZero and Cross-Chain Potential
I started to understand the importance of TON’s integration with LayerZero. It really opened up possibilities for moving USDT between different blockchains. While I haven’t personally used this feature extensively yet, I can see the potential for bridging USDT to other ecosystems for arbitrage opportunities or to access different DeFi protocols. I did read about the RGB protocol enabling transfers from Ethereum to Bitcoin, which is a fascinating development.
The Rise of Toncoin and Stablecoin Deposits
I’ve been following the price of Toncoin closely, and I did notice the recent surge in price, coinciding with the increased stablecoin deposits on the TON network. It seems that the influx of USDT is indeed driving demand for TON, which is a positive sign for the overall ecosystem. I believe this trend will continue as more users discover the benefits of using TON for their crypto transactions.
My Concerns and Future Outlook
While I’m very impressed with USDT on TON, there are a few things I’m keeping an eye on. The ecosystem is still relatively young, so the number of dApps and services is limited compared to Ethereum. Security is always a concern in the crypto space, so I’m carefully monitoring the TON network for any vulnerabilities.
However, overall, I’m incredibly optimistic about the future of USDT on TON. The speed, low fees, and integration with Telegram make it a compelling alternative to Ethereum for many use cases. I believe that as the ecosystem matures and more developers build on TON, it will become an increasingly important player in the crypto landscape. I, Alex, am definitely sticking around to see how it evolves!
